I’m paying devotion to my favorite radio personality. Dennis has really changed my outlook on life, for the better, and I was curious if there were other Catholics on the forums who’re listeners. This is our chance to unite!

I haven’t heard of him. Do you have a link? This would not only unite his fans but introduce him to the newbies.

Not a bad idea.

I should give a short description for newbies. Dennis’ show is about life (though he comments on current events). Topics range from “Who made God?” to “Who is the happiest person you know?” My favorite segment is the “Happiness Hour”. He’s shown me how to be happy and how to think. He’s also been a great moral compass to me (he shares our Catholic values), as to all his listeners. I guess I’ll leave it at that.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dennis Prager. On Fridays he has “The Happiness Hour” and on Tuesdays he has “The Ultimate Isues Hour”. Most of the other times are political discussions (he is a conservative talk radio host). Dennis Prager is Jewish and he used to have a radio show called Religion On The Line with a Rabbi, Catholic Priest and a Protestant Minister discussing issues. He is very knowledgeable and supportive about Catholicism. You can get his podcasts on www.townhall.com. And he’s a just plain likeable guy. 👍

i don’t really a get a chance to listen to Dennis Prager because I’m at work at the time - but when I do enjoy the topics he brings up…I listen to Laura Ingraham on the way to work…now she is awesome! and a convert to Catholicism!

I’ll have to check out his show since he’s on 1420 AM in Cleveland. One of my friends from Sunday school class was telling me about a Jewish radio host who has a great show. Maybe his show is the one!

Oh, it’s the one!

I LOVE Dennis Prager!!!

He just plain makes sense.

Until quite recently he was a democrat, it is awesome to hear his views on politics.

He comes on right after Laura Ingraham here.
Radio doesn’t get any better than that!

Years ago, Dennis had a TV show I watched, and I listen to him now when I get a chance. He is very interesting to listen to, and on the whole, I think, more balanced than other hosts. He and Medved are two of my favorite hosts, which is quite interesting since they’re both Jewish, and a couple of Catholic hosts are on my “bad” list.

The only thing Mr. Prager ever said that I took issue with was that celibacy is a sin.

I really appreciate Dennis Prager.

He is possibly the most well reasoned person on the radio today. Since he is Jewish and I am Catholic we obviously don’t agree about everything. But even when we do disagree there is just no arguing with his logic.

You can pretty much trace any thoughts he has back to some underlying axiom that must be accepted as a matter of faith.

I’ve never heard him phrase it that way, but yeah, I’ve heard him say something like “it’s not good for man to be alone.” Another thing he takes issue with is divorce. He thinks it’s justified in some cases. But that’s to be expected, being he’s Jewish. Other than that, I can’t argue with much else.

I’m one of those stay-at-home-moms Mr. Prager speaks about in his fan base. I listen to keep the “grown-up” part of my brain engaged!🙂

He does a very nice interview, especially with authors. I keep a list on my refrigerator of books/authors I’ve heard mentioned that sound interesting, and most are from his show.

“Think a Second Time” and “Happiness is a Serious Problem”, two of his books, were both good reads.

I must say, however, that I find Michael Medved to be a much greater friend of / advocate for Catholics. I think he just plain knows more or (maybe just cares more?) about the Catholic Church than Dennis does.

Who’s Michael Medved?

Another talk radio guy. I like Michael Medved too - he’s really sympathetic to Catholics. But I would say Dennis is too. What I like so much about Dennis is he actually gets his angry callers to change their minds before they hang up. He has a way of politely making points, and there’s no way around his logic. He uses logic of the heart.

The Catholic Church also believes in some cases Divorce is justified as well. Its Divorce and remarrying without a tribunal looking into the case and getting an anullment before remarrying that it discourages.

No, it doesn’t. It’s ok to have a legal divorce, but those aren’t recognized by the Church anyway. The Catechism states:
1649 Yet there are some situations in which living together becomes practically impossible for a variety of reasons. In such cases the Church permits the physical separation of the couple and their living apart. The spouses do not cease to be husband and wife before God and so are not free to contract a new union. In this difficult situation, the best solution would be, if possible, reconciliation. The Christian community is called to help these persons live out their situation in a Christian manner and in fidelity to their marriage bond which remains indissoluble.[157]

That about sums up the point I was making. Plus the Church allows for remarrying after divorce as long as an annulment is granted. You disagreed with that aspect of my statement and it is a correct one.

A profoundly brilliant and compelling man. A theologian and a philosopher who i feel is far and beyond one of the most compelling intellectuals of our time.
I first heard of him on his talk radio show in the late 80s while living in southern california. I highly suggest any of his books, if available, his daily syndicated talk radio show (i believe dennisprager.com will provide times and cities it can be heard in) and his weekly column that comes out on Tuesdays at townhall.com.
