Catholics worship idols?

That would also seem to rule out framed family photos hanging on the wall or standing on an end table, would it not?

When I see photos of my grandparents, I recall something about them. I don’t worship them.
FOR THE PURPOSE OF WORSHIP…not just to look at. There were angels on the ark of the covenant.

And by ‘angels’ we don’t mean the cute baby-heads or winged youths of popular Christian art either.

From another view statues can be useful to scare off superstitious people. Statues that are ferrocious and scary looking can ward off tresspassers. Therefore, you can carry a statue of Mary in your pocket and the next time those Protestants bother you whip it out and start praying the ‘Hail Mary’ prayer out loud. They will head for the hills. 😃
