Yes! We need more commercials/films like this!
Our culture is being attacked from all sides. We are being told our faith is irrelevant and to just step aside. There are many great teaching resources for studious people who seek out the church. But, there doesn’t seem to be very much for the everyday person who only knows what mass media tells them about Catholicism.
It’s time to set the record straight! I wish there was a ministry that could put together really stellar ads/films like this Catholics Coming Home commercial. For example, I went to Amelia Island, Florida and learned, from a tour guide, about the Sisters of St. Joseph. These Catholic sisters nursed over 1,700 people who were sick with typhoid fever. If more people were aware of Catholic heroes such as these sisters, they might not be swayed by the mass media that portrays the Catholic church as out of touch and irrelevant. Why not have television ads highlighting these contributions to this country, similar to what we see during certain history months for other American groups. Young Catholics need to be re-introduced to their church. And, we need to have real heroes again. Not flashy, mass media manufactured ones.
