Actual causes of death vs. What the media reports on…You’re being socially engineered

Isn’t this a bit obvious? We all know that the major causes of death in Western countries these days tend to be heart disease and cancer. This is largely because we don’t have wars and famines going on in Western countries, and we have more or less (for now anyway) conquered many of the diseases that used to be major causes of death, such as TB. There simply isn’t much to report about someone having a heart attack unless it’s a story on either a new heart attack drug or the diet/ habits of the person involved.

Terrorism is not something that happens on a daily basis in the West and thus when it does happen, it is unusual and that makes it news. No sane person believes we walk around here in fear of terror cells. I don’t lay awake nights in US worrying that a terrorist will kill me; I actually have much more concern about getting cancer or having a heart attack.

Maybe we’re being socially engineered but it’s not thru media reports of causes of death.
People die from heart disease all the tine. It’s not important news. Except maybe to the deceased. If I were to die of heart disease, I’d probably be interested in the story.

But we also generally know how heart disease is generally prevented: eat food, not too much, mostly plants. Exercise. Don’t smoke.

Cancer is common. Everyone knows someone who has or had cancer. Cancer is scarier than heart disease because we don’t really know how to prevent it. Scary = look it up online.

Scariest of all is to die an unexpected, uncontrollable, violent death at the hands of another person. That’s newsworthy.

It depends on the cancer really. For stuff like skin cancer, it is clear what causes it and what to do to prevent it. There are a lot of things we can do to prevent many types of cancer. Just not all of it.

And prevent heart disease also. But we are addicted to unhealthy life styles.

The media makes us fear what we should fear least. I would hope for even just a article every week on heart disease and cancer.

To a degree on heart disease. Genetics plays a big role for a lot of us.

Age is also a part of it. Many people, like my mother, who suffer from “heart disease”, are very elderly, like in their 80s, when they get sick. Their hearts and circulatory systems are basically wearing out due to natural lifespan. It’s a normal way for an old person to pass away.

Thank you, @Theo520. Now I see I can trust the media, on the whole, to know what is newsworthy and what isn’t.

I’m about to shift the stats by googling “lower respiratory disease.”

But the point is, it doesn’t get as much media coverage because terrorism is way more exciting

There are genetics which come into play, no one can blame lifestyle for genetics.
