Ccd class-

My children came into the church last Easter. They are now in CCD class but I’ve noticed some things. For the last 2 weeks they return from class a bit confused. What I have found myself doing is “undoing” what the instructor taught. For example, you have to visit the jails and prisons (good works) to go to Heaven; if you steal-you’re going to hell. My opinion is she is beginning to touch on Venial sins versus Mortal sins, good works ALONG WITH a foundation of faith. Am I right in thinking this?

Probably the best person to talk with is the teacher. Then you’ll know exactly what ideas she was trying to convey and how she explained them. It might be helpful for her to hear what the children think she said versus what she thought she said. Sometimes there’s a misunderstanding and this will give her a chance to clear it up.

I’m a longtime catechist. I recommend sitting in on the class for a couple of weeks and get a big picture of the teacher.
