Hey Brothers and Sisters,
I am now assisting with CCD classes, or in this case Pre-confirmation classes. I am very excited to be teaching since this is something I have been wanting to do for quite some time. I have been paired up with a teacher who has alot of experience and I have already gotten some inquiries in terms of question of our faith. So if it’s ok, I would like everybody here to pray for me so that I don’t mess up when it comes to teaching the correct teachings of our faith. I will be dropping in more frequently as I tackle some questions.
BTW I would like to know if I answered this correctly. Here’s the situation:
A young lady approached me after class asking what the difference was between Catholic and Christian. She also said she attends this Christian church in which they read scripture, pray and sing. What she wanted to know was where is she supposed to go. So being Catholic, I told her, first, that her intentions of going to the other church was good, HOWEVER, she needs to come in to the Catholic Mass. I explained briefly what the mass entails and basically I told her that “this is your home” Was I right in telling her this?
Also, the gentleman I am paired with, met up with me last year at a grocery store (This is the same gentleman I am helping in CCD) Wel,l I kind of felt a little awkward toward him because of something he said. He said he wanted to start a youth group with students of all denominations and instead of there being a Catholic Youth Organization, He wanted to change ot to** Christian **Youth Organization.
That bothered me a bit because there is no need since our Catholic faith entails the teachings and belief in Christ. What do you alll think of this?
I would like your opinion on this because I don’t feel it’s right to have to change Catholic to Christian because it would be redundant.Please assist and God Bless you all!!!
