This Church cant be legit. I dont see how.

Its a pretender. where do people come up with this :whacky:

Clever marketing to sway people into yet another heresy. Whatever.

I would not set foot in the place.

Oh, indeed. But I think I would have to agree with Annie in that the English we speak has been highly influenced by French during the Middle Ages and by the adoption of large amounts of Latin words during the late Rennaisance. As such, I could not justify the use of the word Saxon.

I believe that there is a Celtic Catholic Church monastery in northwest Arkansas. I can remember seeing a picture in our local paper of a purported Celtic monk walking down the road. He was not tonsured. One has to wonder if these folks have ever heard about the Synod of Whitby.
They most likely claim that their forebears boycotted the Synod of Whitby:D
As for the language, I agree it was heavily influenced by the Normans and has evolved over the years but it is still Saxon at it’s root, being influenced by Latin and French does not make it more “Angle-ish” 🙂

Oh, they’re not the only ones dabbling in this. I have read several books regarding Celtic Christianity - the “anam cara” school of thought. As someone of Irish, Scot, and Breton ancestry, these books and a “Celtic” Christianity appeal to the emotions in the same way Sir Walter Scott’s books appealed to Southerners before the War of Northern Agression. The key word is “emotions”. They are searching for a more nature oriented Christianity in the same way as antebellum Southern planters saw themselves as “knights”. A past that really did not exist.

Yes, sure. If we limited ourselves to day-to-day type conversations. I can remember when I was in the Navy and we flew into a Royal Air Force base in Britain. There were no TVs in the transient rooms but there were radios. I happened across a Dutch station and was floored at how much I could basically understand of the farm and market report. Angles, Saxons, Frisians, Jutes…

Exactly!
A dear friend of mine is Dutch and lives in Amsterdam, the basics of the Saxon Tongue and Dutch (or Hollandisch) are very similar.
Here is a link if anyone enjoys reading about Saxons and the history of Britain.😉
