Let us protect our rights of free speech in Our Nation. It’s such an important right we need to protect because without it our nation would be a nation under totalitarian rule…plus our comedians and pundits would be without a job. Let’s keep America free and protected.

In what way would you say freedom of speech is under threat?

Just in many ways. Big issue subjects in our Nation and within our Faith. e.g. Abortion, Homosexuality, Race, and still others. One cannot speak out loud on issue such as these because you will be called bigot, homophobe, or accused of not giving women the right to abort. Issues such as these agendas find a way that if anyone contradicts them and there ways, they will be labeled and attacked for not accepting their ways and/or agenda. It is very subtle but it is there.

But no one is taking away your right to say these things they are simply exercising their right of free speech to disagree with you.

Censorship occurs in various ways:
  1. Outshouting your opponent. If media outlets are filled with variations on the same message then it can effectively discredit, distort and make believable, certain ideas that others find wrong, abhorrent or immoral. So those who are speaking the truth are being effectively censored by the overwhelming message. Yes, everyone can have their freedom of speech, but if the public gets the majority message that certain people are just wrong, regardless of the truth, de facto censorship occurs.
  2. The myth of no mass media or mass communications. Before the internet, the same tools that were used to convince the public that this was true and this was not were redesigned to work on the internet. It is difficult to very difficult to find out who is real and who is not on the internet, or if their words are scripted and false or sincere and true. Certain groups can and do target certain groups and individuals on the internet. In the end, the ability to spread the wrong answer exists and to spread wrong ideas. Those who disagree can be ignored repeatedly while the desired wrong message can be repeated repeatedly until it morphs from opinion to fact, especially for those who are not grounded in the truth.
  3. The “fear” message. The government cannot be trusted. It can never be. But large, global corporations can and have in the past, added their influence to what the public is led to believe. That hasn’t changed. Major corporations have come out in support of this or that bad or harmful thing. A public that does not take the time to educate itself about the important issues of the day are accepting carefully chosen, and sometimes censored, information as fact. Or half-truths at best.
  4. I would argue that overt censorship in movies, TV shows and books has dropped to a level that immoral, especially sexually immoral, material is at the movies or on TV and we are encouraged to accept this as entertainment. Comedy has, in too many cases, turned into hate speech regarding anyone, especially Christians, being against some immoral and wrong issue of the day. You’re supposed to laugh along when Christians are mocked. Or to feel anger. Those who tell you to “question everything” obviously exclude themselves. This form of censorship allows the minds of some to automatically reject truths to the contrary.
Yes, you do hear some comedian’s words bleeped out in some cases, or you get every kind of profanity.

Peace,
Ed
