Hi all!

I have a question for anyone living in the Pittsburgh Metro area:

Does anyone know of a school that offers a Certificate of Theology?

I’m just curious. If it’s doable, I’d like to try for one, if possible. Maybe.

Stuart

Do you mean a degree like a Bachelors or Masters degree?

Franciscan University of Steubenville is only 30 minutes from Pittsburgh. Duquesne is in Pittsburgh, too. Both are Catholic universities.

St.Vincent College is in Latrobe, PA, about 35 miles east of PGH. It is a Benedictine Community and in addition to the college, is a Seminary for the formation of those desiring either life as a Benedictine or as a diocesan priest. St. Vincent Archabbey is the largest Benedictine monastery in the USA, and I believe the second largest in the world.

Hi Joe!

Thanks for the suggestions, but I think a Certificate program would be something I could work with. Anything more advanced would be out of my financial and capability range.

Stuart.

You might consider attending the Franciscan University summer conferences. I think the only one you could get a certificate for would be the St. John Bosco Conference. Depending on the track you opt for, you can get a certificate for a particular area (youth ministry, campus ministry, catechist, etc) in 2-5 summers.

Are you looking for professional reasons, or just looking for personal enrichment? If it’s the latter, you could just go to any of the summer conferences that strike your fancy as time allows. Dr. Hahn and the St. Paul Center often have weekend conferences in the Pittsburgh area, too. You can get on their email list and/or periodically check their website. This are all focused on Scripture, of course.
