Last week, I was watching EWTN and the Mass was on. My aunt, a non-Catholic, was watching along with me.
“I don’t want to ask a stupid question, but is all of that stuff actually gold?”
I told her that it’s supposed to be, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just gold leaf, or gold colored.
We didn’t go further. Had we, I would have pointed out that you would have ONLY the best for the actual body and blood of Christ… but I don’t know if in our respective parishes, if there is much on the materials (other than the chalice is not to be glass)
What is the correct ‘ruling’ on this?
