Challenge and Conquest Clubs---anyone have experience with them?

Hi. I just want to highly recommend Challenge Club for girls (10-15), and Conquest Clubs for boys. My daughter has been in Challenge Club for 2 years now, and her faith life and love for Jesus has increased and intensified. My children attend Public School, and have come home many times telling me how they talked to Jesus to kids that have never heard of him (SERIOUSLY—a little boy in my son’s class asked my son who Jesus was after reading my son’s napkin–I always write little bible quotes or remind them to say their grace,etc). With these clubs, the children perform apostolic missions, learn virtues, attend and participate in retreats, and have a place to freely discuss their Faith. Each week the kids get spiritual direction (boys have priests, girls have “consecrated women”-nunlike, but not involved in a community). There are opportunities for confession and Mass. I can’t say enough about these clubs, and am so thankful that my kids get to participate in them. My youngest, age 6, has also been involved in K4J–Kids for Jesus–a group that precedes the Conquest/Challenge Clubs for kids.

Anyone else have experience with these clubs? Please share. I think it’s important to get the word out!!!

Never heard of them…looking at their website I see why…none in my area.

Do you know a group of Catholic Boys or Girls that might be interested in getting something started? In our area, we have the support of The Legionaries of Christ, but it’s parents who get these groups going. Do you have any Legionaries of Christ orders in your state?

I just heard about it last week in a reply from Pro-life Catholic who runs a challenge group. I am definitely going to get involved in this for my children and if they don’t have one in my area, I might start one though my AFB chapel. We are currently in a state of change with our youth group, so we might have some interest in a club like this.

The Catholic BOys and Gals in our area really are not into the church so much …as to the parents they attend mass so they can get a dicount at the parish catholic school …the youth night(s) at the Church are hardly attended.
As to the Legionaries of Christ never heard of them either.

(Might even be able to get them to help foot the bill, More good Catholic boys = more good Catholic men = more Knights = more activities = more beer!)

I never thought of K of C running a ConQuest Group—that’s a great idea (ummm…NO beer at the meetings though—root beer would be fine )
