Change three words in the Divine Chaplet?

Often times there are small problems I find in Prayer. CHange two or three words in a prayer. They take on a whole new meaning. (Vernacular?)

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

Change this to.

Eternal Father, YOU OFFERED US the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

All of a sudden the prayer takes on an entierely new meaning. Why would God offer his son to himself? Rather he offers himself to us. To show us that suffering and our life is not beneath him.

COuld Sister Faustina Misheard this prayer? Or miswrote it?

Somtimes i wonder too but i think that a point was to be made as to how much power we have in prayer and in life. We can use gods power and offer to him what is allready his,isnt that what we do already we offer him our life our children and money as it is allready Gods to begin with.

I think He would have corrected her. She was upset by the final painting and complained to Jesus, but He told her not to worry about it (in so many words). I think He would have made sure she got it right. And God doesn’t offer us anything IN atonement for our sins, though He offered and Incredible gift FOR the atonement of our sins. Jesus offered His Self-Sacrifice to the Father on our behalf. I always think of the Divine Mercy prayer as being, “look, I cannot offer You anything, but Your Own Mercy in the Death and Resurection of Your Son. Nothing else will atone for my sins.”

Well, before Jesus, there were the animal sin-offerings, sacrifice, offered in atonement for sin. Then Jesus came, and offered himself for the atonement of our sins- I think I can understand the verse if I think about how He is the Lamb of God; offered for our sins.

Am I on the right track?

Look folks… Jesus is not offered TO us, but He offered Himself TO God FOR us. What we are saying is that we are totally relying on the sacrifice of Christ as the source of all mercy from God. Consider: we have nothing else of value to offer God in propitiation for our sins and I love the DMC because it clearly is an intercession for all of us. Without the mercy of God, none of us will make it- will we? I love the very idea that I can go to God with intercession not only for my own needs and sins but those of the whole world. This is one of the most beautiful prayers and I wouldn’t change one thing about it

The Father sends the Son to take on a human nature. In that capacity, the Son offers himself as a perfect sacrifice to the Father for the sins of humanity. In every Mass, we join ourselves to this perfect sacrifice of the Son, and offer it to the Father in atonement for our sins.

The chaplet is surely correct as written!

I like your breakdown here…we have nothing we can offer to God that is worthy other than the sacrafice He made for us.
