Chapter 3 - Sr. Lucia's book: "Calls" from the Message of Fatima

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In Chapter 3, “The Call to Faith” – Sister Lucia wrote:

…We all desire and long for peaceful days, to be able to live in peace. But this peace will not be achieved until we use the Law of God as the norm and guide for our steps. Now the entire message of Fatima is a call to pay attention to this divine Law…

When the Apparitions first took place, I did not really know this Law; I only had a limited and very vague idea about it, no different from any other simple ignorant child, such as I was then, unable to read and write, and living in a place such as my home village … Moreover, in spite of having lived later in more educated circles, I confess that I only acquired this knowledge very slowly, through the Light God gave me.

In fact, only long after those events took place, and after I had written about them was I allowed to read Sacred Scripture. Only then did I understand the true meaning of the Message, although it had been given to me to understand it earlier, but in a less concrete way… (Underlining is mine to encourage us all to pray and slowly learn by God’s Light!)

At the very beginning of this chapter Sister wrote that she wanted to go back over the Message the good God through His most holy Mother entrusted to the humble little shepherds… to convey once again His perennial calls to the people of today. May we listen attentively, to His “perennial calls” with the “ears of our hearts” during this 100th Anniversary Year of the Apparitions at Fatima.
