Charging crystals in the full moon…Not sure how to word this or where to place it as this is my first post and my first experience with Catholic answers…
When people ‘charge crystals’ in the full moon energy they are using the energy of nature to charge the energy of the crystals…it isn’t about spirituality…
It’s been really hard to get an idea of the churches teachings on this…it feels like it would be wrong if one were to become obsessed with it…but if one is just trying to regulate their calm and ‘vibes’ than how does that go against our faith?
Not trying to defend something I’m doing but to truly understand!
Thanks in advance!

Crystals and “spiritual energy” are largely New Age practices. Catholics shouldn’t engage in this.

If you are looking to calm your restless soul I would suggest the Rosary or some other approved chaplet.

New Age spirituality/practices are incompatible with the Catholic Church. Stay away from it, and do not participate in any activities with crystals.

It is wrong to participate in any way.

Yes, it does.

The idea of the moon “charging” anything is ridiculous in the first place. The moon give off no light of its own…it just reflects the suns light. The sun actually does radiate energy obviously as we can feel the heat.

Crystals are a silly superstition…mostly harmless unless it causes you to fall away from your beliefs. But don’t expect the crystals to actually “do” anything. At best, you get a placebo effect.

Not only is it extremely unCatholic its also quite silly and unscientific. Stay far away from such practices. Put your faith and hope in Jesus not in new age hogwash.

as others have said… this doesn’t exist. There is no ‘full moon energy’ and no ‘energy of nature’.

I imagine the only “charging with energy” possible when it comes to crystals would be radioactivity. That wouldn’t come from the moon and one wouldn’t want to irradiate anything one was going to keep anyway.

Well, there is some energy from a full moon…hence the term ‘lunatic’
I’m just looking for understanding of it. I don’t do it but I have lots of friends who do and feel the need to know what my faith teaches.

Thank you!! You’re the only one of all responses to even try and give an actual answer. Don’t think I’ll stay in this forum very long. I have people to speak to but they suggested I ask here as they weren’t quite sure. Shocked at how unchristian some of these answers are.

Chrystals are nothing but rocks. The moon is a giant rock in space. There is no energy to charge.

They might think they’re doing that, but they’re not. It’s superstitious nonsense.

Sometimes truth isn’t easy to hear and nice as we expect.

I hope you will understand it once and leave New Age trash as soon as possible.

Reading this (briefly) has opened up many more questions!! I understand it says not all New Age is bad, but they mention things like holistic healing, acupuncture and reflexology are mentioned as new age. I definitely have to read this better when I’m not chasing the kids around!
