For the sake of the common good, we are more lax when it comes to ie detraction for politicians, as a legitimate fault or policy can affect the public good. However, it seems to me that many are quite happy to assign bad intentions to a candidate or office holder from across the aisle. Gossip seems common. Sadly, this doesn’t happen only in secular politics but in “Church politics” as well.
It riles up the passions and it may be a near occasion of sin for many to get too into it.
What can we do to help in this sphere, both us personally and others?
