Hello all.
I resisted getting a smartphone for a long time, in part because I have a serious problem with online sexual sin. I thought getting a smartphone would be spiritually devastating. Recently, however, I changed jobs, and I was advised that a smartphone would make things a lot easier at this new job. Perhaps unwisely, I took that advice. All of my fears have pretty much come true. In just a few weeks, the minimal progress I’d made in chastity was erased, and I’m back to sinning in this way almost every day.
I’ve tried to find ways to filter the phone, like I’ve filtered my laptop, but it’s proving to be much harder. My dad downloaded something that filters the default browser, which is great. I was also able to block adult apps from appearing in Google Play. But there’s still a massive problem that renders these measures moot. I can download other browsers from Google Play. Browsers are rated “Everyone,” so they aren’t blocked by my Google Play filter. And any browser I download isn’t affected by whatever my dad did, so I can go anywhere.
This has been incredibly frustrating and discouraging. I can’t figure out any way to block myself from downloading unfiltered browsers. Does anyone know if there is a way? My phone is a Galaxy J36 V. I’m open to other advice, too.
