When you do business with a company or person, that money you spend there is providing income for the corporation or owners that then supports whoever or whatever social policies he/she wants to support. Indirect support.
As a Catholic the money I give to social causes comes from my income. Id I am an employee or owner of the company.
Even indirect money supports causes you might not want them to do. Abortion, terror etc. If I give to a charity for one specific thing (say pro-life or ethical medical research) and that charity also supports pro-choice or embryonic research and other social services, then the money indirectly given makes more money available from their general funds for things you don’t support. Thus you should always understand what the people you give your money to might support things you would never support.
If a company supports prochoice, I would rather drive a little farther, or pay a little more to not support a business that gives strength to the murder of innocents.
