I was just thinking of something. What if you worked at Wal-Mart or some other store that sold condoms. What if you were the cashier. Would it be sinful to participate in the sale?

What do you do?

I dont think this is material cooperation, but I would talk to a priest about it.

I work at Wal*Mart (as a cake decorator), but I would never work in the pharmacy or as a cashier because I think it would be wrong to help someone procure artificial birth control means. And there’s magazines there that I wouldn’t want to sell to people either! I think Fr. Peter Stravinskas addressed this issue in “The Catholic Answer” a few years back

BTW, has anyone read the August “Prevention” magazine? There’s an article about physicians, OB/GYNs, pharmacists, etc. REFUSING to prescribe or dispense birth control pills because of the possibility that they cause “silent” abortions.

YA THINK?!?!??!?!

Is it possible there’s hope for society yet? Keep praying!

I didn’t read that, but I saw a news story about the pharmacists part of the equation on the ABC Evening News. The gist of the story is covered here:

I used to work at an Eckerd Drug Store, and after the first time I had to sell a package, I gave the matter some very serious reflection. What I finally concluded was this:

There is nothing intrinsically evil about a condom. Its physical makeup is no different from a balloon or glove. Purchasing a condom is not intrinsically evil. The person could be purchasing them for entirely non-sexual reasons. Ultimately, refusing to sell a package of condoms comes down to an act of judgment upon those who are buying them. For me decide not to sell them because “I know what they’re gonna use them for” is to usurp God’s place as Judge of their hearts.

One related thing I read recently about condom use: “The Church is not nearly so tyrannical as to forbid ever wearing condoms. In fact, we may wear a condom at any time – so long as it’s not during sex!” 😛

Interesting perspective…as I know that my ob/gyn’s office used condoms on the wands for trans-vaginal ultrasounds.

With that in mind, even birth control pills are not intrinsically evil. I was prescribed them to combat an ovulation defect and used them ironically to TRY to get pregnant.

:rotfl: Hahahahahaha!!! Ok, that’s funny.
