Chickenpox in an adult

This is the fifth time I have had chickenpox. I have had shingles, a close relation to chickenpox, twice. People laugh at the fact thaqt I have a “KIDS” thing. I was wondering if anyone else out there has had the same situation.
Also, please pray for me, the last time I had paracarditis as a complication. Since I almost died last time I take this seriously.
 
Oh my gosh. You poor thing. My sister got it again as shingles too, and I think she had it twice as a child–once the pox, and then internally? Something in her bloodstream (I don’t remember, I was young) but I know she was ultra sick for a very long time. Shingles was horrible.

Do you have anyone taking care of you? Have you seen the doctor? Have you been vaccinated or considered it (I don’t know if that is possible for adults)?

I will pray so hard for you!
 
Thanks Abby I can use all the prayers I can get right now. Yes I was in the ER today plus my own Dr. was called. So I am in good hands there. My DD, DH, SIL and three grands all live here. Not sure if it is a good thing or not LOL I don’t want to make anyone else sick.
 
I had chicken pox when I was 22 or 23. It’s much more serious as an adult (as you well know) and no laughing matter. I’m sorry that you have encountered some ignorant people.

I will pray that you have a full and speedy recovery.
 
My husband got chicken pox in his 40’s when the kids were little (they all had it too). I am so sorry to hear this about you. I will certainly pray for you. Adults get it so much worse, as you already know. About your family, I’m sorry but they were exposed before any signs show. This is why it runs like wildfire through a classroom, one child gets it at least 5 others will. But I’ll pray they don’t. They do have a vaccine out (I don’t know if it would work for you at this point) but your grandchildren might have had it.? I don’t know much about it, if someone does please post and let us know. I was an adult when I finally had any of the Childhood Diseases.

Mine was Chicken Pox, and I was very upset: I thought I had been fully immunized and didn’t have to worry, and I also stayed away from any one with it. However, I went camping with a group of kids…

My case wasn’t very severe, although I did develop ear infections during the time I was pimply.

A good friend had a nephew with Chicken Pox the same time I was infected. She didn’t tell me until I was all better, but he died from his (seems a postule grew on his lung and burst).

I pray for any one that I hear with this disease, as I had a cousin that was only 15 when she died about 15 years ago.

I didn’t know that one could be infected more than once. I was under the impression that the only way the virus could re-infect you was as Shingles, much later on. (OH, and Shingles? My prayers go out to you, truly!)

(What does “DD” stand for?)

Shingles, aka Herpes Zolster, is a viral infection. The virus is related to the Chicken Pox virus. That is, unless you’ve ever been infected with Chicken Pox, you can’t get Shingles.

Shingles causes the skin to have hard, crust like … Shingles. These can be painful as the nerve endings are exposed. The shingles can be every where on your body, from the top of your head to the soles of your feet.

I don’t know if one can infect another with the virus when there is an outbreak of shingles. I don’t know if one can have an outbreak of shingles, and cause some one that has ever had Chicken Pox to develop shingles

I do know that the virus is painful, and most that I know that have had shingles were housebound for days, maybe even weeks.

Garlic is excellent for viral infections and colds. I use Garlicin or Garlique odor-free tablets (both of these brands have high Allicin potential) when I have something coming on and I feel so much better immediately - I take at least three a day, or more, if it feels like a real bad cold. It carries me through colds that put eveyone else in bed - to where i am the only one who knows I am fighting a cold. But raw garlic is even more powerful (and cheaper) and since you have to stay away from people anyway you might as well load up on it (drinking fresh lemon juice will help some with the odor while also being good for you). Take a LOT and you will fight this off real quick. Garlic should agree with anything your doctor has you on, and here are two articles. One of them tells what drugs garlic doesn’t agree with.

That’s a very good explanation.
I had them on my face and above my eye. For some reason and I can’t recall just now if you have them on one side of the face, they won’t be on the other side… The pain was almost unbearable… I was lucky that I didn’t have them in my eyeball as it could’ve caused blindness… I’m also told that I could get them again…Usually, but not always stress is a main factor in causing the outbreak… Of course you had to have had Chickenpox…which I’ve only had once and the scars to go along w/ it.
I’ll be praying for you Kathleen.

The outbreak of shingles I had first was the one that had me on drugs for almost six months. I was 26 years old and had two children at the time. There were three places on my body that did not hurt when touched with even the softest of things. My forehead and both knees and it was very hard to get relief. (One Dr even tried to have me committed to a mental hospital prior to the diog of shingles.) I was on major drugs and house bound for almost six months till it went into dormancy. I was the rare case of the rash being internal and it did now show. Had it one other confirmed time on my face and neck, Was lucky only had it for a couple of weeks that time.

Stress seems to make your immune system work a bit sluggishly. So alot of times stress leaves us open to illnesses when we otherwise would not get ill.
