The best I can do to explain from personal experience…
My three children gave me a trip to Europe as a gift for a special birthday, and one accompanied me. In Florence I said to him,
“Darling I sometimes remember things that may have been mistakes, like may sometimes I should have said “yes” instead of 'no”. It really hurts when I remember things like that"
My son replied,
“Mum, you were a good Mum, You always loved us”
I can only explain by what I cannot explain, how much I love my children.
I know that I am the heart of my family, and my children also know it.
My husband takes a more cerebral attitude, and hasn’t always understood my concerns and efforts regarding them.
My children have an answering devoted love for me because for them I’ve meant love and understanding that they’ve never needed to doubt. Hence, I remain the heart of my family.
