Highlights:
  • Makes it illegal, excluding the minor’s parents, to knowingly transport a pregnant minor across state lines in order to obtain an abortion, as a way to escape state laws requiring parental consent (Sec 2431(a)(1))
  • Establishes a fine and/or up to one year of imprisonment for anyone who violates this law (Sec 2431 (a)(1))
  • Provides an exception to the law if the life of the minor is endangered (Sec 2431(b)(1))
  • Makes it a crime to knowingly transport a minor across state lines to get an abortion after committing incest with a minor (Sec 2432)

Sure. They put an exception in everything to keep abortion available for the average person in the name of an extreme. Look at the partial birth abortion bill that really only allows financial recovery for the parents of a minor who had a late term abortion if the parents didn’t know. If the parents knew they cannot seek damages or is there a crime.

Still, is that a reason to vote no…or not vote? Many are choosing a lesser evil and many think this is the lesser evil.

A necessary illusion, I think, from the persepctive of current constitutional viability.
 
This and every incremental measure like it should be supported until the underpinnings of Roe V. Wade are eroded.
 
doesn’t surprise me about my senators from Illinois and Durbin is Catholic. I don’t get it.
