Does anyone have any reviews and opinions about this organization. And more importantly does anyone know if they might do anything that might be contrary to Catholic teaching(some types of research for instance).

Thank you and have a good week. 🙂

Here is a link to the bio of the co-founder who was honored by the Bishop’s 19th Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner: prolifedallas.org/pages/Bishops_Dinner_2012_Keynote.

From charities.org/blogs/featuredcharity-CMNHospitals:
What does your organization do?
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals across North America. We help hospitals save kids’ lives. Our hospitals treat 98 percent of children who need heart or lung transplants, and 88 percent of children with cancer. But we also treat kids with asthma and broken bones. We are unique because we touch the lives of more children and their families than any other children’s charity. And we pride ourselves on the fact that funds stay local. When a donation is given it stays in that community. Hospitals can use the funds we raise however they see fit – to purchase equipment, conduct research, charitable care or provide child life services. They know where the funds are needed most.
I couldn’t find anything linking them to stem cell research or abortion. I had surgery in a CMN hospital when I was 16, though it wasn’t strictly a children’s hospital. I know CMN donated stuffed animals to each children and offered prepaid phone cards to my parents for each day I was hospitalized, but my parents didn’t feel like they needed them so they told the nurse to give them to another family who needed them more. I think the hospital also used the CMN funds to fund their child life program which provides activities for the kids to make them feel more comfortable during their stay. In my case, the child life coordinator walked us through what would happen on surgery day the day before I had surgery.

Hope this helps :).

We need to remember that most heart transplants are NOT okay. One cannot donate or receive a heart without the DIRECT killing of a person. Very rarely do they take place when the person naturally dies. There is not enough time to harvest the organ. So, most heart transplants are definitely against Catholic teaching. So, you were only looking for stem cell research and abortion but forgot a very big one-- transplants.

Here is a website that explains the problems of Heart Donations: net-abbey.org/hearttranshli.htm
