Protecting them the same way we protect the severely retarded is no loss to humanity.

i disagree. it is a loss. we already have begun, but this contiunes to chip away at our unique diginity as the only creatures on this planet created in God’s image. we are seperate from the animals as evidenced by no creature being a suitable companion for Adam save Eve.

raising the animals isnt the issue. really this is lowering ourselves. we are called to be humble but this is rediculous.

I find this statement most offensive and very disturbing. Are you insinuating that chimps are on the same level as humans! No matter what ones (and I am talking about humans here) mentality might or might not be they are still human and therefor in God’s image. Chimps as smart as they might be will never and should never be compared to a human.
