Hi

I am contemplating receiving Daily Readings from a source offering both the Ordinary and Extraordinary form. Aside from the calendar issue, from a Biblical point of view, which one should I use and why?

Thank you!

The Ordinary Form readings comprise a much larger percentage of the Bible than the Extraordinary Form readings.

The Ordinary Form includes readings from a far greater proportion of the Bible.
This is therefore preferable from the perspective of learning as much of Gods word as possible from your devotion.

I would say the EF because they recur more frequently and thus are more easily memorized; plus, there is a wealth of patristic and other saintly commentary on the EF readings from a liturgical perspective (e.g. Toal’s The Sunday Sermons of the Great Fathers."
