Hello. After over thirty years of being a christian and being strongly drawn to the Catholic Church, this coming Thursday I will complete RCIA and become a Catholic.
I’m very excited about it.
I have decided that I will choose a confirmation name.
I’m very moved by John, Paul and James The Less. Hence…my dilemma.
I don’t seem to be able to pick between them.
Would “John Paul James” be allowed?

Thank you for any help in this.
God bless.
Roger.

First of all: Congrats!! Welcome to the Catholic Church and I am so happy that you are going to become Catholic. That takes dedication and determination entering the RCIA program.
Anyways, from what I know (I don’t know much so If I’m incorrect I am very sorry),you can only choose one saints name to have. But I could be wrong so discuss this with a priest. I know, you are torn and I have had the same problem. If I were you I would research about each saint, and reflect on which saint inspires you to be a holy Catholic and which saint you think will guide you through your spiritual life well. Of course, all of them are wonderful. But just take the time and get to know a little more about each saint and choose the saint that you want to form a deep and faithful connection to as they guide you through your faith life. Choose the saint you can relate most to as if you see a part of yourself in them (if that makes sense). Good luck!

There are no rules about confirmation names. Choose what is meaningful to you. It’s unusual to combine them, but not unheard of…

I’ve heard of two names together (and I wish I did so), but not three. I’d ask your DRE. Even if you can only pick one, that doesn’t mean you’re cut off from the other two forever. Using myself as an example, it was down to St. Joan of Arc and St. Bernard of Clairvaux, whom I ultimately chose. But I consider St. Joan of Arc to be one of my patrons. You could do the same with the other Saint(s).
