In 1595 Fr. Arnold Wion described our next Pope with this phrase:*
Petrus Romanus, qui pascet oves in multis tribulationibus: quibus transactis civitas septicolis dirueter, et Judex tremedus judicabit populum suum. Finis.
Translation—Peter of Rome, who will feed his sheep in many tribulations: when these things are finished the city of the seven hills will be destroyed, and the terrible Judge will judge his people. The End.
