I would like to know how the idea of Christ, not as Messiah but as Living God, is traditionally reconciled with the first Noahide prohibition. By declaring the fact of incarnation, doesn’t the Christian faith set up an ‘idol’ which contradicts this (binding) law?

All help understanding this would be appreciated.

Jesus, the messiah, the living God does not fit the definition of an idol. Prohibitions against idols are in no way applicable to Jesus.

That is the difficulty I’ve had: Christ as the Incarnation and God become Flesh. Doesn’t that breach the prohibition?

The first commandment prohibits us from worshiping false gods. Jesus Christ is the True God even when he was a human.

But anyway, your question comes down to “who is Christ?” If He is God, then of course there is no problem, for He is “the Lord your God”.
