Christ Forsaken and the Trinity

I was talking to a friend of mine last night and one of his main spiritual focuses is “Christ Forsaken.” As we were talking, I was explaining how hard it is for me to see a lot of what he says about Christ forsaken being love and attempting to see that in the various trials, tribulations, and losses we might experience in our daily walk. He then suggested I look at Christ Forsaken in light of that event being integral to the Trinity.

I thought that was very interesting so I thought I’d ask all ya all CAF posters to ponder and post on it as well.

I have this print framed on my bedroom wall based on (Luke 22:43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony, he prayed the longer.) It reminds me of the loneliness of death and illness, the leap of faith we must take. But how as an example of hope, an angel is there for us when no one else on earth can. It reminds me that Jesus went through this to enlighten us as what we must face. How the humiliation of suffering and death on the cross follows. By His example, we must stay in prayer. How we are united to the cross in death and how, if united we are to live again and forever in Him as Paul wrote of in (Romans 6: 4 For we are buried together with him by baptism into death; that as Christ is risen from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also may walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin may be destroyed, to the end that we may serve sin no longer. 7 For he that is dead is justified from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall live also together with Christ: 9 Knowing that Christ rising again from the dead, dieth now no more, death shall no more have dominion over him. 10 For in that he died to sin, he died once; but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God).
