Christ mass and Sunday Mass all count

Are we required to go to Sunday Mass if we attended christmas mass?

one of the churches i go to will have a 6.30, 8.30 and 12.00midnight mass on satuday and on sunday 8.00, 9.00 and 11.00.

so if i go to the 8.30 mass on saturday is that enough or do i have to go on sunday as well.

nothing has been said and when something like this happens i’m sure alot of people get confused and not sure what is right
 
Since Christmas falls on Sunday this year you may attend a vigil mass on Saturday evening or on Sunday. You do not need to attend mass on both days.

the snday obligation goes from 4pm saturday till midnight sunday.

no matter what Christmas mass you go to you are fulfilling your obligation

I’m not sure but I’m pretty sure vigils can start at 4pm

your church may be an exception, you have to ask you priest about it not really sure

Its very clear in Canon Law. Any Mass on the evening preceding a Holy day of Obligation satisfies that obligation. I wouldn’t classify 3pm as evening but I think the Liturgical day starts at 4pm.

Can. 1248 §1 The obligation of assisting at Mass is satisfied wherever Mass is celebrated in a Catholic Rite either on a Holyday itself or on the evening of the previous day.

Me neither.

I could understand if Christmas was a Saturday or a Monday. But if it’s on Sunday, then it’s easy!

One could also always Google “holy days of obligation” to find out, or check the nifty calendars many parishes give out every year…
