Christ will not let the Church fall

We live in such evil times that it becomes easy to forget that the Church will prevail against forces of evil. Where have all the saints gone? We seem to live in such a lost time.
Jesus Christ will never let our Church succumb completely to the Evil one. There may be darker days ahead for the Church but Jesus is the head of the Catholic Church and His Church will survive.

So when their are abuses in the liturgy, clergy succumbing to evil, loved ones or even ourselves sinning gravely remember that all of us collectively must turn to Christ for forgiveness and re-arm ourselves through the sacraments and prayer (rosary) to love Christ as completely as we can love him.

I just wanted to insert these thoughts as a reminder that while evil one may be all over our world he cannot defeat Jesus and we must always put our trust in Christ.
 
AMEN! I grow weary of doom+gloom Catholics! Our Church has a BLESSED PROMISE from Jesus Christ…he never fails…nor lies! thanks for the timely post:)

Thank you for reminding us of this.
In the early years of the Church, there were waves of persecutions of Christians, many of whom lost their lives, but the Church still flourished.
The Lord is with us!

Let’s remember and pray for the Stone on which the Church is built: the Pope…🙂
 
A priest once commented that God promised that Hell would never breach the gates of the Church, but that doesn’t mean Hell won’t try to breach the gates!

AMEN again! I am SO happy to see this Thread! To the OP starter…BLESS you! I hear Catholics who think the Church will end every time a comma in a Missal is Changed! We “Operate under a Divine Mandate and Protection.” If we are honest Catholics we can admit to there being corrupt Popes…think of the “House DeMeci” Pupit Popes…but GOD still kept His Promise! 2000 years! We will be here when…as the Creed states He returns to Judge the Quick an the Dead. Amen.🙂

But does that mean we should not speak out against abuses? God works through people as well and there are a lot of laity, priests, bishops, cardinals and Pope Benedict as well fighting against “the smoke of Satan”.

Of course not! We should always be ready to defend the Church. I am just saying carry joy in your heart because despite abuses, in the end the Jesus and His Church will prevail against Satan.
 
This is an exciting time to be a member of the one true faith. And while I can’t readily quote the scripture verse, George is correct Jesus will be there defending the church with us.
 
“And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18

I love this bible passage! When I start getting worried and anxious about all the terrible things that are happening in our world and all the abuses that are occurring in the Church, this is the passage that I always turn too. It is an amazing promise and one that I know for certain cannot be broken because Jesus, who is love and truth, has said it. Thank you Jesus for your promises! 🙂

On Holy Thursday, our priest in his homily said that after a recent hour of hearing confessions he returned to the rectory and said to our Pastor, “I never realized we had so many saints in our little parish.” The Pastor solemnly agreed with him. I agree too. I have met several people in my parish, and at least one up north where I originally lived, who I believe to be holy people of God–Saints. Maybe they will not all be canonized, but they are pious, are supportive of our church and of THE Church, are involved in Christian work among the poor, the sick, the homeless, the aged, children, and show me Christ’s Face every time I see or talk to them.

Jesus Christ will NEVER let the Church fall–I totally agree. But we must never forget that WE are the Church. WE have a responsibility to be Christ to all whom we meet. As someone once told me:“You may be the only Gospel some people might see.”
