Hey Everybody

Can anybody tell me the names of any Christian rock bands or songs that play in a classic rock style? (i.e. they are influenced by/sound like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater, old Chicago, old Van Halen, etc.) To me, most secular rock music has to be at least 20 years old before I take any real interest in it!

I also really like country-rock a lot. I just bought the CD “Come and Gone” by Mason Proffit. I think it came out in the late sixties-early seventies. For those of you who don’t know, it was the band John Michael Talbot was in with his brother Terry before he switched to exclusively religious. It’s an awesome country-rock album and I highly recommend it!

Thanks!

Once upon a time I met a non-catholic who only listened to christian music. He told us to tell him what bands we enjoyed and he’d tell us an equivalent.

I told him I loved the Beatles and he told me to check out Phil Keaggy.

Doug, where ever you are, God bless you!

Can’t help a whole lot for what I think you’re looking for - if you like what might be called 80s rock or Arena rock (or so I’m told, I can’t label music to save my life), then Whiteheart and Petra are two awesome Christian rock bands (Whiteheart has disbanded, and Petra of course has had trouble getting record deals lately, despite being historically what could be called the most famous Christian Rock band)

My father who likes a lot of the groups you mentioned really liked Jars of Clay’s first album, Third Day’s first album, and Three Crosses - I don’t know whether I’d say that they have that much classic rock influences or not - like I said I’m really bad at grouping things together because every band sounds so unique to me - but since my father really likes them, and really likes the classic rock you mention, I figure maybe you might want to check them out too - but I’m definately making no promises…

From the blurb on www.catholicmusicnetwork.com it looks like you would love “Monk Rock”…
Hmm… .I tried that link but it did not work-are you sure that’s the right address?
