That may be true for confessional Lutheran ministers (although we can easily find examples of them ‘swimming the Tiber’), but for protestants on-the-whole the anti-catholic residue is very often there.
No doubt. I would suspect, however, that movement across the Tiber isn’t generally from those types of evangelicals.
But your attempt to allude to the “innovation” of ancient Petrine headship is largely irrelevant as it pertains specifically to shrinking Lutheranism.
I didn’t say it did. My point was the distinction between EO and Rome. There are reasons why the likes of Pelikan don’t become RC., and largely it is papal supremacy which is different from primacy
It’s not the Catholic or Orthodox Churches that are delivering the death-blow to Lutheranism. It’s the evangelicals.
I actually think Lutheranism is doing itself in, particularly the liberal variety.
But for Lutherans that go the ancient route, I bet more go Catholic than go Orthodox.
Perhaps, because they are both part of the western Church. Again, I was speaking of people like Pelikan.
