I’ve read from several websites including from this one religioustolerance.org/ that numbers of Christian community is dropping, what can you say about this report? is this (the report of dropping) accurate, how does a group/authority certified that the report is accurate? have they gone each churches / census records to be able to say that Christian community members are dropping very fast?

Christianity as a whole is on decline. The Catholic Church has been declining in America in a dramatic rate. It has also started to decline in South America as well. Not only are it’s memeber dropping but it’s influence in society is also waning quite fast.

We will not see anymore grouth but only decline from now on, we must be ready to be considered a minority in no more than a few decades.

The Muslims already outnumber Catholics and Secularists are at around 850,000,000 while Catholics art at around 1.1Billion, soon the Secularists too will outnumber Catholics just like the Hindus do too.

just keep the faith and don’t worry about statics, it is less disturbing that way 🙂

rememebr that this is to happen, it is what Jesus said, we are going to be a tiny minority, many will fall away from the faith.

Bill O’Reilly said the same thing. What does it mean if it is true? It means that we as Church are not praying or being witnesses. We compromise to much. Forty years ago society did not accept couples living together without benifit of marriage. Now it is unusual if a couple marrying haven’t lived together. We have been coward into silence by “thou shall not judge” or civil rights. The people who practice homosexuality have been allowed to change the languae to “gay” and we follow along. The Bishops have a hard row to toe. They are critiziced if they speak out and they are critiziced if they don’t. My family have told me that the Bishops have no backbone. At least in Denver, the Catholic schools have been decimated and there is not systimatic teachings to replace it. In the sixties, in Denver, there were 12 Highschools. Today there are four left. One hour a week at ccd doesn’t begin to counter the hours of anti-christian attitudes they get in public school. This is getting to long. I believe a great apostosy is predicted so I guess this is to be expected. Pray, pray, pray especially the Mass and the Rosary.

While I was posting, I have been listing to Fox News. I am sorry that I don’t know what priest was on but what he said was that the statistics were for the Western world. The Third world he said was different. Chuch attendence is up and there is a great amout of new vocations.

Yes Christianity is growing in Africa and those places like the 3rd Worlds, but it is because those places are still not as advanced as the US or Europe, honestly it seems that Christianity can’t handle the technological advancement of society very well and that is why it loses it’s appeal in modern society like the ones it is declining in.

Islam in the other hand is filling up the hole left by Christianity and will soon overtake it.

I think, if it’s really happening, one of the major contributions why christian community is dropping is because christian is a free religion. Meaning, it’s member are free if they would like to convert into other religion such as Islams, Hindus etc.

The Catholic church doesn’t condemn or set rules that if a member of Catholic faith will convert to other religion, that person will be punished or denied by the Church or his family.(am i right?)

Unlike for example in Islam, if you denied your Islamic religion you will be punished (some says even your family members have the right to kill you).

The Christian or Catholic faith is also not prohibiting it’s community to be married with other person with different religious faith. They are free to choose if they’d like to get married with Islamic, Buddist etc.

While in Islam or maybe other religions as well, once they marry non-islamic spouses, that person (husband/wife to be) should convert to Islam first, so that could lead to faster increase rate.

I think those are some good points. To me one of the main issues is How to make Christianity relevant again in the places it is declining like the US? The culture here has made it virtually irrelevant, it is drowning it.

I honestly think that we need a stronger and clearer voice setting forth the views of The Catholic Church and to clearly proclaim the faith in it’s entirely and without any appeal to political correctness of false ecumenism. The world today is very confusing because of modernism and people would really welcome a solid rock to stand in.

Catholic Christiantiy is growing worldwide that is more important than the american catholic problem. And really the american catholic church is not shrinking what is happening is that they are infrequent attendance that is the exact same problem protestant christiantiy is experiencing actually catholcism is actually growing in america. Even in evangelical christiantiy weekly attendance is down and low. THis is a national problem in Christiantiy not just catholic. Evangelicalsim like catholcism can claim grwoth in numbers but not in weekly attendance. So to say catholicism is suffering from a negative trend that our protestant brethren are not having is to ignore reality. Catholcism is in far better shape than liberal mainline christianity but no one mentions this would render the liberal agenda in the church to be meaningless. Their mantra is liberalize the church and it will grow the opposite is true in protestantism the more liberal the less grwoth the more conservative the greater the growth. So if we are going to take a cue of proven church growth why be liberal.
You mentioned the church is shrinking in latin america. Well according to many latin american bishops they have made positive inroads in stopping further inroads by pentacostal christians which have been successuful in prosthelization for a long time. Now in latin america the catholic church is prostehlixing them also and some are returning to the church. But their is stablilty in latin america and not a decline. Africa and Asia have been fruiful in growth but are deemed by some as too new of a church to have a pope. But the Holy Spirit might trump that theory.

Oh yeah Islam handles modern society better?
Your on crack.
Islam does one thing better than Christiantiy they have not boguht into birth control and thus they replicate their faith the old fashioned way by families. This is something christianity has forgotten about as a command from God. That is why they are faster growing faith. There is not a mass conversion of Christians to Islam. We have sold out to secularization and modernism we have not converted to Islam.
Christianity if far more adaptable to modern society than Islam or have you not noticed that Islamic countires live life this the Crusades or soemthing. Christianity has prospered and advnaced in its society but unfortunately has succumed to temptations of a successful society. Islam aside form the few lucky to own oil live in a backward society and are going nowhere in advancing society except for enfording Islamic law.
