Hi!
I absolutely love metal, but a lot of the bands I listen to are ‘dark’. I want to move away from those and listen to songs that have better messages whether it is Christian or not.

Which bands do y’all recommend? Songs? Anything?

(Mainly interested in metal, but I’m open to other music suggestions too!)

Thanks in advance to the replies!

which sub-genre of heavy metal do you like? I for instance, like thrash metal, and even the much-maligned Nu metal, but I don’t really like death metal or black metal. That being said, Christian death metal is quite possibly the scariest music I’ve ever heard.

Trouble, and its later incarnation, The Skull
Place of Skulls/ In-graved (both Victor Griffin projects)
I used to also like Underoath, but I know there was some controversy about just how “Christian” they were before they broke up.

Hmm deathcore stuff I think. I don’t really pay much attention to the sub-genres haha. I listen to bands like Whitechapel, Job for a Cowboy, Pantera, Slice the Cake (favorite right now).
There is this band called With Blood Comes Cleansing, I like some of their songs. They are supposedly christian I think. (I first heard it In junior high so I dont remember much about them).

Here’s my list:

My favorites are Theocracy, Divinefire, Leah, Saviour Machine, Scandinavian Metal Praise, Mehida, and Stryper. Leah is a Canadian, Catholic home-schooling mom of 5. I’d like her for that reason alone, but her music is very cool, too.

Some of the above are Catholic, too. I mentioned Leah. Eterna is a Catholic band from Brazil. Metatrone is from Italy (their keyboardist/grunt vocalist is a priest!).

I listened to all of them! I’m really liking Trouble the most; those riffs are niiice.
The Skull and Place of Skulls are good too. Underoath isn’t really my cup of tea 😛

Thanks for your suggestions!

wowowow! It’s going to take a while to listen to all those bands. I just listened to the songs you posted and I’m really really liking Theocracy. The other ones I liked are Leah and HB.

Thanks for all your suggestions, can’t wait to listen to all!

Honestly, I can’t say that I’ve listened to all of them. 😝 My brother has a lot more CDs from a lot more bands than I do, and most of the list is from him. He went through a period of scooping up a lot of Christian metal bands. Most of them are in the prog/power genre.

Since it is that time of year, I have to share one of Theocracy’s Christmas songs. They have a lot of good ones, but I think this narrowly beats out Rudolph vs. Frosty to be my favorite:

Glad you like the Christian doom bands, especially PoS. Victor Griffin is a great guitarist and a positive influence on me. He’s not Catholic, but is a powerful witness for the Lord.
