I am struggling finding the time to work with the 2 asscociations that I belong to; one being the Christian Motorcyclist Association which is a motorcycle evangelist organization seaking to find the lost on the highways and byways through motorcycle rallies and events and then reaching out to bring them back to Jesus. This is a non-denominational organization.
The other organization that I just belong to is the Knights of Columbus which so far has been doing fund raising work for the church; i.e. cooking after Sunday Mass and selling Christmas trees.
Finding the time to devote to both of them is difficult, so I am looking for some advice as to which one has the most meaning at the end of the day.
I think I found my answer after taking the time to write this on paper, but I still would like to hear some responses.
I will share my answer later.

Hi Dewman,

When you wrote about the Christian motorcycle club you belong to I immediately thought of the Knights because we know a couple who are motorcycle enthusiasts in the KCs. In fact, he’s now our District Deputy. 😃

I have a suggestion for you, if you want it. Don’t quit the Knights, especially if you have insurance with them. Rather, at this point in your life, curtail some of your activities with them to pursue this other worthy cause. You won’t be young and healthy forever and be able to ride the roads looking for lost souls as you are now.

You will want to be a part of the Knights later, so keep your membership current and come back to deeper involvement with them after you’ve retired from this other ministry. Or, radical idea here, start your own Catholic motorcycle program in conjunction with the Knights and Catholic Charities or some other Catholic service organization. How does that sound?

As was explained at me when I joined the KofC, “You can participate as much or as little as you are able.” I’m on travel a great deal and can’t make many meetings or do other things with them at this time. My dues and participation in the insurance programs are acts of charity since they, in turn, support the organization’s other charitable works. I probably won’t bother rising above 1st degree until I have more time to invest in the future. Keep your membership current! Every little bit helps. :tiphat:

Thanks for the replys. I have no intentions of quitting the Knights. I just need to find some balance between the 2 organizations rather than abandoning either one of them. I really need to understand how much time I can afford to give and stay with that versus stressing on not being able to keep up. I like the suggestion of involving other Knights in riding; I will look into posting a ride for Christ in our church for those interested in sharing their hobby with helping find the lost souls on the highways.
Thanks again and God Bless,
