Christian Parody?

I wonder what your thoughts are on the merits of “Christian Parody,” especially as manifested in sites like the “Landover Baptist Church.”

LBC, is basically a satire of far-right fundamentalist Baptist Churches and their belief.

Here is two examples of their articles:

The whole thing is of course outrageous, and kind of troubling once you realize that people hold beliefs not too far removed from LBC’s:blush:

Is it wise/correct to read a site like this and get a good chuckle? It is somewhat disrespectful and irreverent, but I do find it at times quite funny.

Any thoughts/ ideas?

Oh and meantime try reading what those Baptists say about “A** Burger” (if it’s still on their site).

Don’t be sentimental or trivial about hellishly cynical and destructive wedge driving against the vulnerable. They aren’t just a bit of paper you tape to your wall - they are broadcasting this worldwide permanently.

I have fought (metaphorically) my way into Protestant and Catholic churches with my difference in body language and verbal language.

God wants me there despite non comprehension by the shallow minded. Let it get no worse than that.

Find the joke thread on this forum, if you want (largely) reasonable genuine humour.

Wow that’s a parody site? I honestly had a hard time distinguishing it from some real sites I’ve come across over the years that espouse almost exactly the same message. Only difference… the other sites are not joking. :bigyikes:

I think that’s the point. I don’t see it as a Christian parody. It struck me as a parody of fundamentalist American bible-belt evangelical churches.
