Does anyone know of a website for the LOTH in the Christian Prayer form? I have been struggling with this for quite some time, doing it as best as I can figure out, and anyone I know that does it does the 4-volume version. I have the Christian Prayer version, one volume, and when I’ve gone online for a format to follow it doesn’t match with what I have, so I still don’t know what I am doing. Most specifically, I have trouble wtih the office of readings and when to say the Te Deum. My CP is quite different from LOTH. Any help is much appriciated.

Dear SFX,

universalis.com/cgi-bin/display/USA/-400/readings.htm

I used the Christian Prayer many years ago. I recall that it was an interim breviary until a final universal one could be adopted. The wording of the psalms is much more to my taste, and I had a difficult time going to the new form which my Community was using. It was necessary for us all to use the same breviary, as we recited it together in common, but I was not as happy with it. http://forum.catholic.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

It is not necessary to have a 4-volume set in order to be in unison with the prayer of the church, for all that is necessary is contained in one volume. Office of Readings is not obligatory, but more of a devotional practice. The only two that are practiced in unison with the Church are morning and evening prayer (Lauds and Vespers).

The other offices are prayed in monasteries at every quarter consisting of three hours (3, 6, 9, 12) and for that reason, are printed in the volume in case anyone wishes to join in prayer with them. Not many folks who work or who live an active life have this luxury.
