Christians are committing wrong by eating halal meat

Firstly, halal meat is not sacrificial or a food offering. It is merely blessed.

Secondly, Paul says clearly that we may eat food sacrificed to idols anyway.

Thirdly, it is blessed by our Muslim borthers who believe in the one true God. That is to say, it is blessed by the same God we believe in.

Here is a good outlining of the issues at hand:

The one exception to this may be that if eating halal food causes our borther to stumble, we should avoid doing so. But if we first explain to our borther that it’s OK, then there should be no such concern. Moreover, if the halal meat is not even labelled as halal, this concern is irrelevant. So feel free to eat those supermarket meats all you like.

Frankly, I’m more concerned with animal welfare issues.
You think the one true God would say it is ok to marry a 9 yr old? You think the one true God would say to kill everyone who doesn’t convert? I don’t know what god you follow. But the one Jesus spoke of and taught in the name f wouldn’t say such things. Muslims are no brothers of mine.

I didn’t say their understanding of God was good, nor that their teachings are correct. But our Catechism (CCC 841) says that “together with us they adore the one, merciful God”.
