Hello Everyone!!!

I really need some help this Christmas! I really want to make an impact on my family and give them books that wil hopefully lead to their conversions. I would love some books recommendations for:
  1. Fallen away Catholics
    2.Lukewarm Catholics
  2. Non-Catholics/ Atheists
Thank you in advance!!!

By Patrick Madrid; these are all great reads and to the point and easy to refer to:
Why is that In the Bible?
Why is that in Tradition?
Answer Me This?

Questions:

What faith tradition(s) do your intended gift recipients hold?

General age range?

Are they “readers” (some people will never crack a book)?

I’m not counting on them being to enthusiastic about receiving a book, so I’m praying they read whatever I give, but that’s why I would like them to be straightforward and powerful.

I mean this with great sincerity, do not use a gift exchange on Christmas as an excuse to proselytize your family.

How would you feel if one of your family members converted to Islam and used your Birthday to give you “101 Reasons YOU Should Be a Muslim”?

If you really want to give them books, do it at another time, on a random Tuesday “I was reading this book and thought you might like to read it”.

Oh.
So I suppose I’d better abandon my idea of diluting aftershave with holy water and giving those this Christmas. Dang.

🙂

How about giving them the book version of A Charlie Brown Christmas?

This story is so good and strips away all the hoopla and materialism about Christmas and gets back to “what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.” To this day, I always get teary-eyed when Linus recites the Christmas story straight out of the Gospel of St. Luke–it’s equally good reading it out of book as watching it on TV.

And yet the book is not “preachy” or a blatant evangelism tool. It’s part of our history in the United States, and no one, except maybe those who are rabidly anti-Christian, should be offended or upset at receiving it for a gift. It’s one of those books that a lot of people leave out on the coffee table during the holiday season.

It’s a short little book, and I’m guessing that your loved ones will pick it up and read while they’re waiting for their toast to brown or sitting on hold with their insurance agent. And the Holy Spirit will use the book to help them find their way to Jesus.

If you really want to get some smiles and a hearty thank you, give them the book and also a plate of cookies and/or packets of hot chocolate, hot tea, or some other beverage that you know they will like.

How about Aquinas’ Summa Contra Gentiles? It was written to convert non believers.
