I would like to send Christmas cards with a bible verse of the importance of following the commandments and repenting of your sins and turning away from them. Many of my christian friends believe that Jesus will forgive all your sins because he is merciful. They don’t get that you have to turn away and be repentant and follow the commandments.

Is there any good versus that will stand out that is short to write in a card?

The first caller has the same argument, and John Martignoni handles it very well. You’ll need real audio, I think, to listen to it. Sorry I can’t help you out with the Bible verses, but this talk (you only have to listen to the first five to ten minutes) does give Biblical references to the Our Father. One of the main points is that the Bible says that if we forgive others, God will forgive us, and if we don’t… we’re in trouble! And that’s right there, in the Bible
