Any ideas of “Catholic” gifts for my mom, who is devoutly Catholic?

Gift card to Starbucks?

Does it have to be a “Catholic” gift?

If she’s intense about this, and you are casual, you could miss by a mile. My daughter bought me a plastic Sacred Heart night light. I smiled and thanked her but felt like shoving it down her throat (no exaggeration). Now, DH has subscribed to the whole Biblical commentary from the ECFs (26 volumes @ ca. $32/ea). Now THAT’s a present.

Point is, If you are asking US, you are likely to miss the mark.

How about a subscription to the National Catholic Register?

As a Catholic mom, I would love either a Magnificat subscription, copies of the Pope’s new books, or a retreat 🙂

It depends on what she is into. My mom is very prayerful, so for her I’d probably find some kind of devotional book, or a copy of the writings of one of the saints.

Usually EWTN has items that are available for a modest donation. They’re located on the back page of their monthly EWTN Family Letters from Deacon Bill. EWTN gets supported and you can find a beautiful gift for your mom. Everyone wins! 🙂

I bought my very devout Catholic MIL a plaque for her wall in the shape of a cross, with one of her favorite Biblical scriptures…from St Paul. I have bought her angel statues throughout the years, as she is very attuned to angels, and the power of angels watching over us on behalf of God.

I also think the following are wonderful:
  1. beautiful Rosary beads
  2. Books written by the saints (I just bought Come Be My Light, Mother Teresa’s letters)
  3. a beautiful holy candle to burn during prayer
  4. Advent wreath and prayer book
  5. A yearly compilation of the daily masses with reflection
Just some ideas?

gave MIL satellite so she can get EWTN last year
this year gave per subscription to Word Among Us, which has fairly large type, and new version includes the Mass readings, as well as the devotional commentary and articles, so she can follow along with her EWTN Mass.

Have some Masses said for her. I do that for my Mom and Dad all the time. Yes they are alive and yes you can have Masses said for the living.
