Why does God give us different personalities? Some traits appear more desirable than others. For example, sensitivity. I feel half & half about it. It is nice that some people are thoughtful because they are sensitive. There are some people who are too sensitive to deal with the reality of life - crime, death, divorce, aging, failure, rejection. Why are some people much more emotional than others?

Personality is like the mind’s skin: it is the surface where the human mind meets life, the layer everybody else sees.

Just as some human skins tan goldenly while others scorch and blister, no two minds are alike.

Methinks your thread title is your answer. The Church is a body. Bodies live because different cells are sensitive to different things. As S. Paul said, if we were all eyes, we couldn’t hear; if we were all ears we couldn’t smell.

I remember St. Paul in 1 Corinthians 12 wrote about one body and many parts, but I can’t recall whether Jesus said something like that. Is that from the Gospels?

God gives you abilities to match perfectly your earthly mission exactly, eg doctor, undertaker, counsellor, therapist, nurse, priest, teacher,

Some are virtues we can work on and obtain through prayer and good works. A person can acquire more sensitivity through practice.

Then also; experience, facing life with God gives us an outlook of positivity, faith, hope, love

We are also different because God wanted us to be interdependent, to depend on one another.
If we were all the same, who would have ability to do something different?
