Church Must Take A Stand Against Obama!

It is totally reprehesible that the president of Notre Dame University has extended an invitation to president Obama to make the commencement speech there and receive an honorary degree. It is tantamount to having the head klegle of the KKK give the commencement speech at Howard University! This man has voted for butchering live babies in the third trimester and even in live births! He has reopened embryonic stem cell research as a viable practice! He is now insisting that Catholic hospitals perform abortions! Where is the Archbishop of that diocese? Notre Dame is Catholic in name only, in fact, there are only a handfull of truly Catholic institutions of higher learning in the U.S. Any Catholic college or university that has active pro gay organizations on campus, pro gay faculty, Muslim clergy on staff, anti American or anti war student groups or militant feminist groups promoting their causes should have their Catholic identity stricken from their names and titles ! Anything less is an insult to those who founded those schools and hold degrees from same and to the Catholic laity in general!

However we do, and will continue to pray, regarding all that you rightly refer to as grossly unacceptable to Christians. On more than one thread here in Prayer Intentions, we pray daily, and where our members stand against strongly with you, each in their own best way. 1. The local bishop cannot put Notre Dame under a local interdict, even for a brief period, if for no other reason (and there would be other reasons) than that local interdict is not a penal option under the 1983 Code. While local interdict (and community interdict, its cousin) were possible under the Pio-Benedictine Code (see 1917 CIC 2268-2277), today, interdict is a purely personal penalty, meaning that only specific individuals, convicted of a canonical crime, can be interdicted (1983 CIC 1332).

1. The local bishop cannot forbid the celebration of Mass in campus oratories and chapels by a precept under 1983 CIC 1225. While the argument here rests more on scholarly opinion than does that above, I think the weight of that opinion would not support a bishop’s using a precept to forbid Mass on campus during graduation weekend.

Mind, nothing in Bp. D’Arcy’s statement today suggested that he was considering either option, but my advice to folks who have been considering suggesting them would be to save your time: neither action would be supportable under 1983 Code.

Dear God, our Father and theirs, please protect those little ones who are denied the safety of their mother’s wombs and instead are brutally destroyed and denied life, and tiny infants are also used in scientific research. Touch the hearts of mothers to protect their unborn babies. Please give them the kindness of others and the means to support their children. And please heal those women and girls who have realised the enormity of what they have done.

Our God, please give a rebirth to Christian chastity.
Please hear our prayers for the legal protection of unborn infants. We beg You to protect Catholic doctors and nurses from being forced to perform abortions. We ask that Christian mena dn women rise up to protest and to work against the murder of Your little ones. Jesus we ask Your powerful action in us.

Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
