Reflecting on Christ’s words, “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing” (Lk. 12:49), Pope Francis called upon the faithful to be open to the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Pope Francis called upon the faithful to be open to the fire of the Holy Spirit. “If we open ourselves totally to the Holy Spirit, He will give us the audacity and fervor to proclaim to all Jesus and His consoling message of mercy and salvation,” the Pope told the crowds gathered in St. Peter’s Square… “If the Church does not receive this fire of the Holy Spirit, or doesn’t let it enter into herself, it becomes a cold or lukewarm Church, incapable of giving life, because it is made up of cold or lukewarm Christians.”
I love this message! It is so rare to hear our Catholic leaders mention the utmost need for the REAL power that comes from the Holy Spirit in living a life of evangelization.

I’ve often commented on the importance of asking for–and working from–the Holy Spirit’s Charisms in order to BEST evangelize the lost today… but rarely do I hear any agreement from fellow CAF readers.

Anyone curious how we can go about doing what Jesus (and now Pope Francis) have told us regarding the gifts of the Holy Spirit and reaching the lost and hurting?

“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Lk 11:13)

My prayer is that everyone ASKS for more of what the Holy Spirit has to offer, so that we all become Catholic Christians who are ON FIRE to share our faith, hope, and love! Yay God!!!
