I was wondering something about the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Does anyone know if the Church is divided between denominations? In reading I get the idea that it is, but I was wondering how it is divided. Are the EO the only ones who have access to the Sepulchre (grave) itself? Also when did this come about?

The Church of the Resurrection (the Orthodox name for it) is shared by Greek Orthodox (Jerusalem Patriarchate), Armenian Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Syrian Orthodox, Coptic Orthodox, Ethiopian Orthodox.

The major part of the church belongs to the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem

The way things work in the Holy Sepulchre church is regulated minutely by the “Status Quo.”

You can read all about this at

THE STATUS QUO
IN THE HOLY PLACES

The first part concerns the Church of the Holy Nativity at Bethlehem. Skim down to find the regulations for the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
