Church removing Indulgences?

I talked to our Deacon. It was a case of misunderstanding…

He told me that even if the Church “phased out” indulgences they can’t undo whats been instituted.

I’m greatful for this wonderfully Orthodox Parish I find myself in 😃

This is all contradicted by the Holy Fathers most recent Apostolic exhortation Sacramrentum Caritatis in which he clearly defends indulgences and promotes their use as beneficial for the faithful and the Church.
