It wasn’t that long ago that our church always kept a side door open, 24/7. It was off the main parking lot and off the street – one had to go around the building to the inside grotto to access it. Even that wasn’t enough to prevent vandalism. Someone came in and desecrated the tabernacle. Ever since, all the doors to the church have remained locked. It’s like punishing everyone for the actions of just one person – or maybe more than one, but certainly not the majority. Collective penalizing. Not really fair, but our Lord needs to be protected inside of God’s house. As Irishmom2 has pointed out, God hears our prayers wherever we are.
