Is there a thread for Cinderella man? I couldn’t find one, but apologies if this is a duplicate.
I enjoyed the movie overall. I like boxing, and recall my Dad talking about Braddock, the center of the film. There is some evidence of Catholic faith in the family and the community, but I was so bothered by the gratuitous use of the name of our Blessed Saviour that I don’t think I could recommend the film. We are so concerned that the Koran not be desecrated, yet the Name at which every knee should bend is desecrated time and time again as entertainment. It makes me long for the days of the Holy Name parade. If enough Christians stopped attending films with this profanity, maybe they’d think twice.
I recall the sisters who taught me saying that when the Holy Name was used improperly we should add an ending to make it a prayer. I tried that during the film, and couldn’t keep up.
