Anyone here like the City on a Hill albums? They’re by (so far as I know) Protestant musicians, but there are very orthodox themes in the songs. Some of the lyrics might even sound familiar. For example:
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. Kyrie Eleison, Lord Jesus Christ. Kyrie Eleison, have mercy on me a sinner. Have mercy on me a sinner.
Or:
The Lord be with you. And also with you. The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God. It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
I realize it’s not quite the same without the music, but hopefully you’ll get the idea. Anyway, I really love these albums (there are three of them, plus a Christmas album). They have that acoustic, coffeehouse sound to them that I prefer above just about every other kind of music. They also have many of the musicians I like the best, such as Jars of Clay and Caedmon’s Call.

Any thoughts?

I’ve liked the two that I have (I don’t know if there are more).
I like to hear my favorite musicians collaborate and make even better music than they do alone.

Oh yes. “Come to The Table of the Lord” reminds me of the Mass.

I really like Ginny Owens, she has some songs on those albums, I think. I think you would like her EP “Blueprint”.

Peace.

As far as I know, they are mostly Protestant, but they come from a variety fo denominations, so it is possible some of them come from denominations whose beliefs and practices resemble those of the Catholic Church more closely than those of most non-denominational evangalicals. 🙂 Lovely music, in any case.
