Hi! what does the catholic church say about marriage to an Anglican. I mean, can the catholic partner receive communion in the anglican church at service? should the marriage take place in an anglican church, how does that impact the catholic partner? could they anglican partner still need to convert (go through the RCIA) to become catholic?
I would really appreciate some insights if anyone could help.

Thanks and God Bless!

Both my brothers ( Catholics) married Anglicans. You must be married in the Church if you are a Catholic, promise to bring up the children in the faith etc.

A deacon married my younger brother a few years ago. There was no Mass. So no communion. Just a marriage.
Catholics cannot receive communion at any other Church except the Orthodox ones and then only in certain conditions.
Talk to your parish priest if your considering marriage.
Hope this helps.

Dear John,

Thanks so the update! Appreciate it…🙂 So, do both your brothers attend the catholic or anglican church?

How has their journey been so far?

And if the marriage was conducted in the Anglican church, would i need to go for reconciliation if i want to continue receiving communion in the catholic church?

Smiles & God Bless,
Chris

It is considered as a disparity of cult or incorrectly refered to as a mixed Marriage. A Catholic cannot receive communion at an Anglican church service. The Marriage must be approved by the Catholic Bishop and the necessary Catholic Marriage preparation must be completed and the Marriage should take place in the parish of the Catholic party. The Catholic party is required to make certain promises. The Anglican partner is not required to become Catholic, they could if they freely choose to do so.

IF the Marriage was conducted in the Anglican church without the permission of the Catholic Bishop then the Marriage is simply invalid and you cannot receive Holy Communion until the Marriage is resolved. Going to Reconciliation would not be an option unless you are willing to live apart. You cannot receive any Sacraments including Reconciliation if you choose to remain in a state of sin.

Hi,
My older brother and his wife and six kids are all practising Catholics. My younger brother and his 2 kids are also practising Catholics. But his wife is still Anglican.
